lilbucfan's blogBICYCLISTS BEWARE AND SHARE THE ROAD!
I am all for physical fitness and participation in group sports, but I just want to vent about these mass groups of bicyclists that overtake JCP roads without regard for the laws or respect for others. Note: JCP is not the trail for the Tour de France. The campaign for "SHARE THE ROAD" seems to be very one-sided many mornings and afternoons in JCP. These mass groups gather and overtake the entire lane, disregard stop signs and virtually put their own lives at risk by dangerously maneuvering their bicycles into the lane of traffic in an obvious effort to deny those driving behind them the ability to safely pass them. Additionally, overtaking the ENTIRE LANE of the road as they ride side-by-side 10 across is ILLEGAL based upon Florida law. SJSA vs. CFL
There are now 2 Pop Warner Associations under CAA to serve the youth in our area: SJSA and CFL. Registration for both organizations has begun in preparation for the fall season. It was recently announced that approval was given to CFL to expand from its initial request of 1 team per age block, to 2 teams for some of the age groups. This was to accomodate the interest of many new Pop Warner registrants in this area as evidenced by the number of people who attended the first 3 sessions. The announcement had been made to parents that there will be two teams for those age groups in CFL---BUT WAIT---that is not to be. Despite the fact that these parents and children CHOSE to sign up at CFL, the SJSA President has raised objections and CAA has decided to deny the additional teams. What's the deal with SJSA? It seems SJSA's sole interest has been to find any way to deny parents and the youth of our area an opportunity to expose themselves to the CFL. JCE Flood Make-up Day
FL DOE has directed a make-up day for JCE students, the only St.Johns County school closed because of flooding from storms last week. Pretty interesting that those students and teachers, who, like many others in the county, could not get access to their school on that day now are required to make it up, yet the other absent students from area county schools were excused and will not have to make it up. I sure hope that the teachers aren't negatively affected by missing out on the Teacher Planning Day! |
