Your Daily Dose for April 25, 2008
The following is a music video for the song 1 2 3 4 performed by Feist. It’s a catchy song, it’s simple, fun, and a great way to start enjoying the weekend a few hours early. I think the video deserves merit not only for it’s creativity, but also because it’s the exact opposite of most music videos on television today. In the age of Mtv, viewers are bombarded with quick camera cuts, flashy effects and an overall sense that you may have a seizure at any moment. Feist does away with all of that, and instead allows viewers to simply relax and enjoy themselves. Lily... Glad you're enjoying the latest video updates on our website. However, before I get too far into accepting your kudos, I must say that you deserve equal mention for being such a big contributer to the site as well. Mark's video updates are a great idea I think, and I hope to see them embraced by our online community. As for The Daily Dose...I hope to continue to feature a variety of different topics. And as far as where I find them...well....everywhere. I've been a net junkie for a long time and have bookmarked lots of interesting things over the years. I will say that one interesting source is a website called boingboing.net Their posts can be a bit...technical...at times, but they do a great job of capturing what is happening around the world wide web. And I'm a huge, huge, huge fan of TED.com which I've mentioned before. That's the site I wish everyone would visit weekly. And all the other stuff just seems to find its way onto my screen. Whether through emails or suggestions from friends, to accidentally misspelling a web address and finding myself not where I expected, but somewhere equally intruiging. And finally...I'm glad you enjoyed the music video. I really hope to see more of that type of creativity make its way into mainstream media. I can only hope that the next generation will lash out against such fast paced media, and rebel by slowing things down a bit. Sorry to ramble....have a great weekend! |

Ok, you in particular, and the “Sun People” in general, are doing a great job with these videos...I found out about Sir Ken Robinson from a reference you made to TED in a previous blog and the more I read on that site, the more I learn. Fascinating stuff.
The soccer video and the one with the Umbilical Brothers are great and this latest is truly a refreshing change from the usual music videos. I have a theory that too much MTV and constant sensory stimulation at a very young age contribute to the over-diagnosis of attention deficit disorder in older children. They have been programmed to have short attention spans...oh well... How do you find these things?!?
The video blog by Mark Pettus should be an effective way of keeping everyone informed on issues that will impact our entire community, especially important with our upcoming elections. Thanks to all of you for dragging me into the present and keeping me there.
