DON'T GET TRICKED AFTER THE TREAT!
Before you go out in a "spooky" night screaming "Trick or Treat" with your kids, stop for a second and listen to this healthy advise. No, I am not a "Party pooper", just a concerned citizen who has gather together certain facts which I want to share with all parents. In case you haven't heard yet there is a new bacteria (I cannot even pronounce the name) which attacks the immune system and it is transmitted through touch! It is invisible and can even cause death. It was detected in Texas and it has spread all over certain schools. However with people traveling all the time there is a good chance we might get it here in Florida pretty soon. Nothing more convenient for this type of bacteria to spread than the giving away candy to our kids, even if it is wrapped and looks all right it might be infected already. Paranoiac? Maybe! But "Better safe than sorry!" If you are going to take your kids to "Trick or Treat" please make sure you are not the one "tricked" with the "treat". Here are 5 safety rules you might want to consider on behalf of your little treasures: - Never consume unwrapped candy or that looks "home-wrapped", or candy that has been opened and closed again. - Make sure your kids wear gloves when receiving the candy (as part of the costume looks unoffensive) and use hand sanitizer frequently. Kids (especially the little ones) are always touching their faces with their hands. - Check your kids candy before they even get it out of the bag. Use gloves your self before getting the candy out of the wrap and place them in a clean zippered bag or plate. - Consume only the brands that you are familiar with, dispose the rest and the gloves when you are finished! - Visit only the houses where you go every year and NEVER let your kids go inside of a house. If they are going by themselves with a group of friends (With you following them in your car would be a wonderful idea!) advise them not to eat the candy until they get home. Explain to them why! - One extra advise: Make flashlights and neon glow sticks part of your outfit and PLEASE! drive cautiously kids will be everywhere! For some reason we tend to believe that Halloween is a National Celebration when it is more like a tradition. Kids tend to think about people as "good citizens that give away candy to kids with great costume" WRONG! Always keep on the back of your head the other kind of dangers your kids are exposed too: Predators. The fatal other bacteria of our society. These monsters will be out too this Halloween like every year, make your kids aware of them too! Unfortunately, the good old times are gone now and it is a truthful shame. Today, we have so much to worry when is about our children that the word SCARY is not enough anymore!
