Vandals prey on local police

Police officers who live in northwest St. Johns County received a rude awakening Wednesday morning when many discovered the tires on their patrol cars slashed. Some even found graffiti spray painted over the police graphics on their cars.

According to Kevin Kelshaw with the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, nine cars were targeted; three from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, four belonging to the St. Johns Sheriff's Office and two civilian vehicles. All were parked in front of officers' homes in the Stonehurst neighborhood near County Road 210.
